Very informative and interesting read that I highly recommend if teaching English as a second language is even slightly appealing to you. This is a great resource!
I've done my TESOL but I haven't taken the plunge yet to teach. I definitely needed to read this book, it makes it seem easy to move and start teaching in another country.
The information was pretty basic, but still useful. Helps to get you in the right frame of mind as you're researching and preparing to become an English teacher.
The content is concise, interesting and useful. Be aware, it is not deep and thorough, it is only about 23 pages long. I would have liked to here more first-hand stories about the nitty-gritty of life as a teacher overseas.
Teaching English as a Second Language was a terrific book. I have been teaching for a while and I really got a lot out of this book. I highly reccomend this book to anyone looking to become an ESL teacher. T Hanks so much for the great book!
A comprehensive guide to understanding what teaching abroad in a foreign country is all about. The author does a good job of being honest with the reader and not only discussing the benefits of teaching abroad, but also some of the challenges you will face in getting the job, and also doing the job and being away from friends and family. Great educational read!
This book is a godsend for anyone who wishes to teach English to ESL learners overseas. It touched on the various courses required and the different certifications one needs. I also like the fact that the author included sections on how to search and apply for such a job. Information on visa, contract, pay and benefits are also included. By the way, I am teaching English in Taiwan so if you are interested in teaching English in Taiwan for a year or two (plus a chance to tour the place and make friends), let me know. One thing though, the pay is not a big incentive.
